An Editorial Lower East Side Wedding in NYC

A wedding weekend full of life, energy and deep emotion.

I. The Background

Erica & Jacob at the Angel Orensanz Foundation, NY.

There’s something about New York weddings that feels completely alive in a way that’s hard to describe until you experience one firsthand — especially on the Lower East Side.

This wedding at Angel Orensanz Foundation felt ethereal from beginning to end. Moody November light, historic architecture, loud celebration energy, and a couple that fully embraced the spirit of the city around them. The entire day felt effortlessly cool while still being deeply emotional and personal.

The couple began the day getting ready at The Ludlow Hotel. It brought such a calm and intimate energy to the first half of the day while still feeling unmistakably New York. Their first look took place on the balcony, with soft natural light pouring through the city skyline around them. It was quiet, emotional, and such a beautiful contrast to the high-energy celebration that would unfold later in the evening.

As guests arrived at Angel Orensanz, the entire atmosphere transformed. The candlelight, red ambient lighting, towering ceilings, and textured historic walls made the ceremony feel almost dreamlike — dramatic in the best possible way. The venue itself carries so much presence and character that it hardly needs anything added to it, but of course, the floral design and decor were absolutely jaw dropping.

Then the reception began, and the energy completely exploded.

A live band from Café Wha? kept the dance floor packed the entire night. There were napkins flying through the air, singing into microphones, nonstop dancing, and one of the most electric party atmospheres I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding. At one point, the bride and groom even crowd surfed across the dance floor while the entire room erupted around them.

This wedding was emotional, stylish, chaotic in the best way, and completely unforgettable. The kind of celebration that reminds me why I love documenting weddings in New York City so much.

II. Testimonial

“Sobbing. Sitting on the couch both of us sobbing. I am so speechless. I truly didn’t expect to feel the way I feel after watching – there aren’t really words. Just sheer appreciation for capturing the most special day of our lives. There are so many moments where I will turn to watch what you captured – the hard days. The anniversaries. The day when we get to show our children. I will never be able to articulate our thankfulness and sheer gratitude. Thank you just doesn’t cut it. I hope you feel amazing about the work you get to do. We love you!!!!! Seriously thank you so much 🤍🤍🤍”
